This guide explains the three translation modes available in Doclingo: Standard Mode, High-Fidelity Mode, and Reading Mode. You can choose the mode that best fits your document and translation needs.

• Standard Mode

Standard Mode translates the entire document and generates a regular translated version.

This mode is suitable for most translation needs, especially when you want to translate the whole document quickly without marking any special areas.

How to use:

1. Upload your document.
2. Select the target language.
3. Select the translation engine.
4. Choose “Standard Mode”.
5. Click “Start Translation”.

• High-Fidelity Mode

High-Fidelity Mode allows you to mark areas in the document that should not be translated.

The selected areas will remain in the original language, while the rest of the document will be translated normally.

This mode is suitable when your document contains:

1. Images or text that should stay unchanged
2. Brand names, product models, or special terms
3. Tables, diagrams, or fixed content
4. Areas that need to keep the original format or language

• Character Usage for High-Fidelity Mode

High-Fidelity Mode may use additional character quota for area enhancement.

The enhancement quota is calculated as:

2,000 characters per selected page

Example:

If you select 3 pages:

Area enhancement quota = 3 × 2,000 = 6,000 characters

Final usage:

Basic translation character usage, including the selected engine multiplier + area enhancement quota

• How to Use High-Fidelity Mode

Step 1: Upload your document

Go to the document translation page and upload the file you want to translate.

Step 2: Select High-Fidelity Mode

Select the target language and translation engine, then choose “High-Fidelity Mode”.

Step 3: Click “Mark Protected Area”

After selecting High-Fidelity Mode, click “Mark Protected Area”.

A new window will open for area selection.

Step 4: Select the area that should not be translated

Click “Area Selection” from the toolbar.

Then select the area in the document that you want to keep unchanged.

Step 5: Choose how the selected area should be handled

After selecting an area, the area settings will appear on the right side.

You can choose one of the following options:

1. Ignore All

All content in the selected area will remain unchanged and will not be translated.

2. Do Not Translate Images

Images in the selected area will not be translated.

3. Do Not Translate Text Only

Only the text in the selected area will not be translated. Other content will still be processed normally.

Step 6: Complete the selection

After setting the protected area, click “Done & Close”.

Step 7: Start translation

Return to the translation page and click “Start Translation”.

After translation is completed, the protected area will remain unchanged, while the rest of the document will be translated.

• Reading Mode

Reading Mode is designed for side-by-side reading and comparison.

After the translation is completed, you can click the translated content. The corresponding original content will be automatically selected on the left side.

This makes it easier to compare the source text and translated text.

Reading Mode is suitable for:

1. Manuals, contracts, papers, and long documents
2. Checking the translation against the original text
3. Reading the source text and translated text side by side
4. Quickly finding the original content that matches the translation

• How to Use Reading Mode

Step 1: Upload your document

Go to the document translation page and upload your file.

Step 2: Select Reading Mode

Select the target language and translation engine, then choose “Reading Mode”.

Click “Start Translation”.

Step 3: View the comparison page

After translation is completed, the comparison page will open.

The original document will be shown on the left, and the translated document will be shown on the right.

Step 4: Click the translated content

Click any translated sentence or content on the right side.

The corresponding original content on the left side will automatically be selected.

• View Reading Mode Results Again

You can view the result again from Translation Records.

Path:

Click the avatar in the upper-right corner → Account Center → Translation Records

Find the document and click “View” to open the comparison page again.

8. Quick Summary

Standard Mode:

Translates the whole document. Best for most regular translation needs.

High-Fidelity Mode:

Lets you mark areas that should not be translated. Best for protecting images, tables, brand names, product models, or special content.

Reading Mode:

Lets you compare the original and translated content side by side. Best for reading, reviewing, and checking translations.

9. Tips

1. Use Standard Mode if you want to translate the whole document quickly.
2. Use High-Fidelity Mode if some images, tables, brand names, product models, or special areas should not be translated.
3. High-Fidelity Mode may take longer because the system needs to recognize and process protected areas.
4. Use Reading Mode if you want to compare the original and translated content.
5. Before using High-Fidelity Mode, make sure the protected areas are selected correctly.
